Say Hello to Davenport's New Resident Examiner

I've been on a mission to take on some freelance work to get back to what I love about writing. It seems the less writing I do, the grouchier I become -- writing is my outlet and without it I tend to retain emotion. It doesn't seem to matter what I write about, its just the simple act of doing it that provides a tension outlet for me, kind of like yoga.

My goals for this job are to get a jump start on building content for my portfolio, honing my writing skills and hopefully getting my name out there -- oh and did I mention it pays? Not much, rest assured I will not be jumping ship on my day job anytime soon, but being paid to write feels so much more meaningful and professional than blogging for free. It is important for you, all of my loyal readers, to note that it is a sliding pay scale based on the number of articles I submit and the feedback they receive (i.e. leave comments), how many followers I have, and the number of unique page views my articles receive so visit often!

Without further ado, I give you the Davenport Attachment Parenting Examiner.

Tumblin' Bear

Nora went to her first tumbling class yesterday. She is by far the youngest in her class. Typically the youngest they take for tumble bears is 18 months, but since between my sisters and I we've been going to Kim's for over 20 years, N gets special accomodations :)

Overall, it went pretty well. She did very good at participating and following directions when it was her turn. We will need to work on sitting on her square when it's not her turn though -- she certainly wasn't shy or quiet, and she loved running up and down the mat while the other girls were taking their turns.

Baby of the Month

Nora's famous. I sent in her photo to a worldwide homemade baby food website and she got an honorable mention! You can see her here. How cool?!?

Speaking of homemade baby food, we tried avacado yesterday. It was my first time trying it too, and I think Nora liked it more than I did.

We've been inching into finger foods, but she doesn't really get the concept yet. Ironically, any- and everything she can get her hands on goes into her mouth...except food I give her to put in her mouth. She just opens wide and waits for me to put it in there for her.

I thought avacado would be a good one to dice instead of puree because it is so soft it just mushes. She did well with it (though daddy was paranoid and came to cut up the chunks smaller). In addition to the chunks of avacado, we have also tried Gerber puffs. I got some banana flavored ones and again, she doesn't pick them up, and she's pretty indifferent to eating them -- doesn't really seem to enjoy nor dislike them.
