Milestone or Disaster?

Nora has learned how to undo Velcro. She has an Old McDonald book that goes on your hand with puppets for fingers and the book, which Velcros shut, in the palm of your hand. She is endlessly entertained by opening the book each time you close it, and its positively adorable.

The problem does not lie in the opening and closing of the book; no, the problem lies in the fact that she has also made the connection between opening her book and unfastening her Bum Genius diapers, which also use Velcro closure. Oy, the perils of having a smart kid.

We can now check "learning the art of fastening diaper while putting pants on simultaneously" off the to-do list.

On the babyfood menu this week is chicken. Yesterday, I boiled two medium chicken breasts on the stove until they were cooked through, and pureed them using water to help thin the mixture. Charlie was a little disturbed by the mushy meat, but I can assure you this looked (and smelled!) much better than any jarred meat I've seen served to a baby.

Since Nora isn't quite ready for a variety of spices just yet, I mixed the pureed chicken with a cube of apples I had made previously to give it some flavor. She seemed to approve.

Today I...

Played with my friends. We rolled the ball and I would roll after
it.

It's been another busy week and I'm looking forward to the weekend. Nora got to spend some long overdue, one-on-one (or two-on-two?) time with Mimi and Eric. We picked them up from the airport Tuesday night after their week in Vegas, and Wednesday Nora played hookey so she could spend the day with them -- as always, Mimi too lots of pictures.

Since Mimi cleaned our house and did the laundry before she left, this weekend's plan is to just relax and enjoy the weather.

Tomorrow we're going to tour our CSA and learn more about volunteering a few times a month. In return, we'll get a discount on our produce share.

Sunday, we're going on a picnic with some friends if the weather is as beautiful as they are predicting.

Maybe if we're bored, we'll hit up some yard sales too! There are a few things I want to keep an eye out for for Nora.

Baugh Blog #2

In light of Earth Day today (HAPPY EARTH DAY!) I want to debut a new blog I've been working on.

The past year or so I've really been working on greening up our home. More recently, I've begun working on plans to take my greening community-wide, which inspired me to begin blogging about it, but until now, haven't really promoted the new blog much because its still a work in progress. For one, I'm not crazy about the look of it and it still needs to be branded with some sort of logo or header, and for 2, its just not that extensive as a resource yet -- with that in mind, I give you The Crunchy Conscience.
